Amaechi, who spoke while presiding over the formal defection of two former commissioners in the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration and others to the All Progressives Congress at an event in Port Harcourt on Sunday, attributed the rising crime in parts of Rivers to the high level of unemployment.   Reps panel chair silent on Chinese loans’ probe discontinuation Minister of Transportation, Mr. Roti he House of Representatives has kept mum on the alleged abandonment of the investigation of commercial agreements and external borrowings by the Federal Government, which its committee carrying out the probe said contained “dangerous” clauses. The probe has lasted 14 months without the House Committee on Treaties, Protocols and Agreements, chaired by Mr Nicholas Ossai, turning in a report.   2021 UTME: JAMB confirms candidates’ poor performance, blames COVID-19 . The registrar blamed the poor performance on the truncation of academic calendar due to COVID-19. The   Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)   has confirmed that the performance of candidates in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is poorer than what it recorded within the past three years or thereabouts. The JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, confirmed this on Saturday evening while appearing on a live programme on a Nigerian Television Authority’s (NTA) programme tagged ”Weekend File.” Mr Oloyede, who blamed the development on the truncation of academic calendar due to the rampaging coronavirus pandemic, also listed what he described as peculiar environmental factors in Nigeria such as insecurity, among others.
